Welcome to Kingsway Primary School.

Over time, we hope that you will be able to find many items of interest to you and learn more about all of the exciting and interesting things that take place at Kingsway Primary School every single day!
Olympic Legacy
After watching one of the most fantastic summer of sports and seeing how inspiring both our Olympian and Paralympian athletes were, at school we are going to keep the Olympic Legacy well and truly alive this new school year!!
After many meetings with staff and assemblies with the children, we have decided to set up House Teams based on our favourite Olympic and Paralympic gold medal winners.
All children from Year 1 to Year 6 will be put into a team, with brothers and sisters in the same team. Foundation Stage will join in after Christmas. The children then have to earn special merits for their team based on these 4 values in school:
Friendship
Good Manners / Respect
Determination
Excellence
At the end of each week, in our Friday assembly, the new Chris Hoy Team Trophy will be awarded to the winning team from across the whole school. At the end of half term a reward will be given to all the children in the winning team (approx 80 children). Please see the results on our Olympic Legacy page under the About The School tab on the left.
Our entrance hall will reflect this new initiative, as we will be hanging from the large light tower some huge Olympic Rings. On the 5 boards below the rings will be a display to show all the names of the children in that team. The 4 values will also be displayed and a new phrase that the children should be aiming for at all times, as we want them all to strive for this.
“Be the best you can be”We are all really excited by this new scheme, and hope that our parents will fully support it as well. All children will be successful in this as they can show all 4 values in class, in the playground, on trips etc. It’s not about how clever you are or how good you are at a certain subject. It’s about how good you are as a person. We saw these values in the way our Olympic and Paralympic athletes performed day in day out in front of millions of people all through the summer. They can all be our inspiration for all of us to aspire to during our time spent at Kingsway.
The 5 teams, based on the 5 Olympic Rings colours are:
Team Peacock (Jonnie Peacock) - Black
Team Ennis (Jessica Ennis) - Blue
Team Brow-fluidnlee (Alistair and Jonathan) - Green
Team Simmonds (Ellie Simmonds) -Red
Team Farah (Mo Farah) -Yellow
Having received a positive Satisfactory OFSTED inspection in January 2012, as a school we are now aiming to move to becoming a GOOD school. We really believe that by creating our own Olympic Legacy, this will go along way to helping.
As you will see by the many things that go on in school, we are well on the way to achieving this goal.
We want our website to give you a small flavour of life at Kingsway, but if you want to know more about the school, then please do not hesitate to contact myself on 01405 763716.
Thanks for visitng,
